 Spikes are the #1 Selling Ice Fishing Bait.  They are larvae of the common blowfly.  They are great for pan fishing and trout. Maggots are a creamy white with a soft pliable body.  In Europe maggots are used to chum an area before fishing.  Maggots are shipped in pine shavings and will last 1 month if refrigerated.  Maggots must be refrigerated.
